GNAM/NATIONAL GALLERY OF MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY ART

The Gallery was established in 1883 to house italian works of art of the new Unified State.In 1915-1916 the collection was moved from the Palace of Exhibitions on via Nazionale to the present building, erected by Cesare Bazzani for the World's Fair in 1911.The present organisation of the collections,sub-divided in XIX and XX century departments,dates to the latest restoration in 1995-1999.
